Futbol Game

Alright, so today I went to the first football (a.k.a. soccer) game since I have been here and I had a really good time. It was pretty cold though and I was wearing short sleeves but it was fine.
First thing to know is that soccer here is much more than any sport in the United States. The closest I guess would be hockey, but not quite. There are two major teams in Argentina. They are the Boca Juniors and River Plate. Basically 90% of the people in Argentina are affiliated with one of these teams, the rest with smaller local teams. These people are big time rivals and their fans(especially Boca) are die hard. This game was between Boca Juniors and a smaller team called Instituto from Cordoba. When we arrived to a massive swarm of people it took us awhile to get in. About 10 minutes before the game began chanting and singing stopped and it did not stop until the game ended. It went up and down in volume but it was always there.
So anyway Boca was winning the whole game and still all the fans were yelling curses at any referee who gave a bad call against Boca (even if there was an obvious foul). At the end Boca won 3-0. An interesting fact is they have to use barbed wire behind the goals to protect the field. In edition cops are there with full riot gear to protect the opposing team. Also the fans who sit behind the goals (a.k.a. the most obsessive fans) are not even allowed to mingle with people from opposing teams. This is assured by the fact that they are not allowed to leave the stadium until it is cleared of everyone else.
Also here is an update my new pictures are now available on
